shape-shifting sea dwellers, selkies often appear as seals, commonly found around the cold shores of northen europe. they can shed their skin and take human form if necessary. a selkie’s skin is its most precious posession, as to lose it would mean they cannot return to sea, and must remain in their human form for the rest of their days.
