Some more of my goddess!

-Hecate (Hekate) was the Greek goddess of necromancy, death, witchcraft, poisonous plants, the moon, ghosts, and magic.

-Also the goddess of the crossroads and is often depicted wielding torches, daggers, or a key.

-Animals that were sacred to her included black dogs, the polecat, and serpents. She is also often portrayed with animal heads.

-Her arrival was often forewarned by the howling of the aforementioned dogs.

-In the tale of the abduction (and later recovery) of Persephone, she played a major role in assisting Demeter.

-She had extensive knowledge of poisonous plants, and there were many that were sacred to her. These include the mandrake, belladonna, yew, aconite, garlic, dittany, and cypress.

She’s absolutely glorious and deserves all the praise and worship I can offer

(All this information came from my grimoire 🤗)

Not gonna lie, sometimes I worry that I’m just…a seeaboo? As in, I question if I really have any right to be a devotee of a sea god if I only lived on the coast a few years. Can I ever claim I’ll even understand it remotely as well as someone who’s lived by it or worked on it their whole lives?

It’s not like I’m remotely able to pick up and move to the coast at this point either.

I realize he’s the one who came knocking, but…it really gets to me because it doesn’t bode well from a discernment standpoint, you know? There’s no good reason he should have bothered with me, of all people.

Why couldn’t I have just developed into a normal pagan who worships trees? (Other than the fact that trees are terrifying.)

I feel like this sometimes, minus the tree fear. Most times. It’s hard to work with a sea god when you live less than an hours drive from geographic center of the continental United States. I miss the ocean. I miss it so very much.
