apjenkin:

I’m pleased to finally release my image of Pedn Vounder under the Milky Way. It’s a shot that I have been planning for a long time, and it has finally come together. I haven’t seen any Milky Way shots from this location before, I think mine might be the first, or at least the first shared publicly. If you do know of any, let me know as I would love to see them! As usual I appreciate feedback on my images and I am genuinely interested to know what you think? Thank you.

Prints are available on my website.

I get a lot of people asking me my settings or how the image was shot so I will briefly cover that here.

Canon 6d – Tamron 15-30 2.8
15mm
25 seconds
2.8
ISO 6400

Foreground – 38 images averaged to reduce noise and recover detail.

Sky – 5 consecutive images averaged to reduce noise.

This is a real scene, no physical element has been added. The Milky Way is visible from this location. 🙂

I recently posted a timelapse from that night if you would like to see it.
